Gift Guide & Holiday hours for December
We’ll be open every day this week from 11am to 7:30pm through Dec. 23. On Dec. 24 we will be open from 11am to 3pm and we will be closed on Dec. 25 & 26.
Need help checking off your Christmas list? Here are a few ideas… from grand gestures to small tokens of affection:
We have a growing collection of signed books. On display right now we have a signed Johnny Cash ($250), Jackie Kennedy ($750) and two books signed by J.K. Rowling (starting at $1,250 each). We also have books signed by Hillary Clinton, Carly Fiorina, Dick Cheney and Condoleezza Rice. And books signed by local authors starting at $20.
Hemingway first editions
We currently have three Ernest Hemingway first editions available.
- A Farewell to Arms. First edition and first printing. Printed in 1929 in an edition of just over 30,000. Scribner’s seal on the copyright page. $195.
- The Sun Also Rises. First edition and second printing. The book was first printed in October 1926 in an edition of 5,090 copies. A second printing of 7,000 copies came out a few months later. This copy was in the second batch. It’s identical to the first, but with a change of date on the title page and the correction of a typo on page 181. $150.
- Men Without Women. First edition and later printing. Scribner’s made no changes at all in later printings except for the paper. The first printing weighs just under a pound. The later printings (of which this is one) weigh about 13.5 ounces. $75.
We grouped some books together by theme. We think some of them are pretty funny. You might like them too.
We have Field Notes notebooks, flasks, Heartfelt Homebody soap, and holiday 45s. We also have handmade gift certificates (available in any amount) and $5 & $10 “RB Bucks.”
And, of course, we have lots of good books for reading and those always make great gifts.
